About the Authors

Bernice Johnson-Laxdal is a retired Cree language and culture teacher with over twenty years of teaching experience. Bernice enjoys cooking, going on canoe trips in summer and cross-country skiing in winter. Originally from Ile-a-la-Crosse, Saskatchewan, she now lives near La Ronge. Miriam Körner is an award-winning writer, illustrator, and nature advocate who lives with her sled dogs in northern Saskatchewan. Originally from Germany, she spends a lot of time on the land, travelling by dog team and canoe. Miriam is honoured to collaborate with Elders and knowledge carriers in her community to pass their stories on to the next generation.

Miriam Körner is an award-winning author and illustrator who lives in Northern Saskatchewan in a small cabin surrounded by quickly vanishing old-growth forest. Her young adult novels and picture book collaborations express her love and concern for the natural world. Miriam is the author of young adult novels Yellow Dog and Qaqavii.
